DUNGEON OF DOOM
Online game of 10/6/2024
FIRST DELVE
Lineup:
- I played Gemm Naseam, a man who lies about his magical and physical prowess (Still had the highest strength in the party lol). The rest of the party included:
- DragonByte played Talwyn, a scout who deserted his post
- Morg played Archie Worm, who is, I quote from the Discord, ‘a struggling lawyer who wants to become an adventurer to get away from his domineering wife’ (couldn’t be me!)
- Brian played The Authority, AKA The A, a representative of the Thieves’ Guild (from which we loaned most of our gear)
We waltzed around the dungeon for a bit. By my curiosity we ran into some morlocks who were constructing a monster from clay and meat, and by everyone’s ferocity we fought. The frontliners got roughed up and we had to run away. Dropping rations only stopped one, so I dropped some marbles and slipped up the rest (But for a few who liked the shiny orbs). No treasure.
SECOND DELVE
The wounded rested a few days, Gemm Naseam restocked with some battle oil and marbles, and we returned to the dungeon for a second delve. We mapped a bunch more of the place, found our way across some traps and fell into a pit. After that we got to a hall of doors, and found a squadron of elite orcs charging up the stairs to ‘greet’ us. I slipped them with my bag of marbles and we took up the top stairwell to fend them off with arrows and flaming oil.
After that we came across a glyph-shrine of the All-Seeing One. Archie and Gemm performed a short ritual while our allies rested. For this the magicians were blessed: the first hidden dungeon feature one of us came across would be revealed to the group. But the rest of us were cursed by giant centipedes, who injected The A and Talwyn with weakening venom. We ran out, the blessing of the All-Seeing showing us a secret locked door on the way.
Again, no treasure.
THIRD DELVE
Given the injuries of some of the heroes of our last delve and the opportunity to make new characters, the lineup changed:
- Morg again played Archie Worm
- I played Donder, a dwarf and brother to Ponder.
- DragonByte played Ponder, a dwarf and brother to Donder. Zones out and just says shit sometimes
- Brian played Sly, a wizard school dropout
First up we found a trap and decided to dig it out from behind with our pickaxes (Dwarves always gotta have ‘em). Took us a half-hour, during which we were ambushed by giant spiders that were easily done in with Archie’s sleep spell. No harm done, we got ourselves a ruby from the trap and ventured onward.
While investigating a strange dip in the hallway (I thought it’d be a trap or some kind of conversation pit; just a lower section beneath a higher room), we got a DOUBLE random encounter! The spiders we slew reanimated, and an ogre came across our way. Luckily, the ogre was friendly to us and an enemy of the creeping dead. He fought to the last, killing the spiders as they killed him and us brave dwarves just kind of watched.
Donder gave him a proper dwarven send-off (a cigar in his mouth; whiskey poured out) and we continued. Came across some green chainmail on a rack with warnings written in chalk all around it. We put some chain around it and dragged it home, but got ambushed by some goblin robbers who previously killed some adventurers. We let them try to take the cursed armor, which drained near all the life from some and gave us a chance to kill the rest. With that said and done, we went up to the surface.
Treasures (finally):
- Golden coins from the friendly ogre’s purse (RIP)
- A great big ruby from the trap
- +2 chainmail with a pact (Which Donder now dons. Actually a whole lot better than his old plate)
